Jumpers and Jamboree

I have been a very busy bunny of late (That pink Duracell bunny cyclone doesn't get a look in) and alongside my recent Made in the shade adventures I have been organising (a very last minute) event with illustrators Lauren Gentry and Jen Collins.

Hosted at Dundee's Kokomo's bar, Jumpers and Jamboree is a night of Boozy, arty fun, with craft sellers, original clothing, paintings, drawings, prints, zines, an old-school prize-raffle and home-baking.

Whatsmore, we are still open for submissions, so if you're an artist, designer, crafter, zine-maker, and you'd like to show/sell your work at Jumpers and Jamboree, we'd love to hear from you!

Just email: laurengentry@hotmail.co.uk with a brief description of your work, no more than 5 images or your website/blog URL. Even if you have spoken to Lauren about it , if you wish to submit work for show or sale in Jumpers & Jamboree you MUST e-mail laurengentry@hotmail.co.uk before Monday 1st of March.

To let us know you're coming along for a nosey, RSVP at our J&J Facebook and Central Station event page.

These are the posters we have each designed, which you may have seen out and about Dundee!

I Love Vintage Village & Pin Up Nights

I must say, what a lovely time was had by myself and fellow Dundee Maker Catherine Barthram at Made in the Shade's Vintage Village this Friday!

I was really impressed with the homeliness of the Flying Duck, and the amazing range of beautiful things available at Vintage Village! A huge thank you to the Made in the Shade Ladies for organising such a truly cool event. If I lived in Glasgow, I would definately make it a regular haunt!

Thank you also to everyone who chatted to me and bought my things!

A Tea Epiphany

Last night, I had one of those moments where you have to stop yourself from jumping up and shouting "EUREKA!"

And I think I have good cause to be excited as I have managed to combine two of my favourite things, to make something new and fabulous. It is (drum-roll please) The Emergeny Tea Badge.

Through what seems like magic, I've managed to press an actual tea-bag into a badge. It is of course sealed under cellophane- totally wearable and also doubles as an emergency stash of tea for the kinds of crisis that only a cuppa will cure.

You can get your own Emergency Tea badge by visiting my Folksy Shop: Nikki Made, for only £3.00.

NikkiMade @ Pin-Up Nights

Thought that no-one would ever think to combine Neo-crafting with Electropop beats? Well...thanks to the Flying Duck- Ladies Night 3 exists!!

For one night and one night only, Nikkimade is coming to Glasgow's The Flying Duck, for their Pin-Up Night, on Friday the 26th of February. Hosted by Made In the Shade, me and my work will be part of the Vintage Village event- a selection of stalls selling vintage and handmade items with an retro vibe!

So, I'll be selling badges from my range featuring classic Tunnock's biscuits wrappers and vintage fabrics as well as a few new things I'm working on at the mo!

Dundee based designer-maker Paleface will also be joining me there, with her collection of one-off garments- made lovingly from rare vintage textiles. For more on Paleface click here.

It's only £6 for girls and £7 for boys (on the door) or flat rate of £5 if you buy before at http://www.pinup-nights.co.uk/. Vintage Village stalls and loads of lovely lady DJ's to amuse our ears. And also, NYC duo, French Horn Rebellion.

Nikki Made @ The Maisonette

Good news for February! My prided Tunnock's badges will be stocked this season in MadeInTheShade's Glasgow store, The Maisonette! Just off of Byres Road, you can find The Maisonette in De Courcy's Arcade, Cresswell Lane.

The Maisonette is home to some really fantastic designer-makers, inlcuding a few of my favourites, Miso Funky and Angharad Jefferson- so I'm totally thrilled to have my work in their hallowed halls!

If you live too far away visit The Maisonette (And remember- you can get to Glasgow from almost anywhere via the Megabus- £1!) Never fear! You can of course, still buy online from my Folksy shop, NikkiMade.
