Central Station Vs Superfly 2010

Spotted on of these yet? I am lucky enough to have one of my pencil drawings included in the current Superfly poster show. The posters, alongside showcasing the artwork of myself, Lauren Gentry, Lindsay Gardiner, Jen Collins and John Paterson; serve to advertise the arrival of Central Station for their Dundee Pop-Up tour (click for full listings for the day). The event even got a mention at FormFiftyFive. Woohoo!

A wee profile on me, and my work will be featured on the Superfly website tomorrow (Wednesday 3rd Feb 2010).

So be there, or miss out on the best all-round event for Dundee creatives yet this year!

Kicking off at DJCAD reception, 11am, Saturday the 6th of February 2010.

The Shimmy

The posters are up- the date is set, and there's even a Facebook event for the very first meeting of new Dundee Maker's Mob- The Shimmy. Here's a little bit from The Shimmy's Makers' Manifesto:

"The Shimmy is a Dundee based group focussing on providing a platform for Dundee-based artists and makers. Our manifesto aims to form a network for socialising, key tips and sharing tools for proffessional development, as well as practical and theoretical discussion to aid the development and progression of our careers as artists and makers"

So whether you're interested in meeting other artists for collaboration, learning new skills or just meeting up with like-minded folks for a cuppa and a blether, get yourself down to the Hannah Maclure Centre Dundee at 6pm on Tuesday the 2nd of February. We'll be there to say hello!

Busy Busy Busy!

It has been quite a while since I blogged, but I'm putting this down to 2 things: The fact that I have been mega busy, and also that I have discovered twitter! You can follow my tweets (updated many-times daily!) here.

So I thought I'd better give an update of what's been going on, and what's due to go-on soon!

I will be participating in Central Station's Pop-Up Tour of Dundee's art community. Many of Dundee's art events are staging theirs for the tour, including Handmade Heaven at the Hannah Maclure centre, and Superfly- which I am lucky enough to have been chosen to be part of! I am also working with Central Station for a pretty sweet addition to their evening event- which I'd like to be a surprise...so I'm saying no more! The image above is a detail of the work I will be showing during the Superfly poster exhibition.

Local Artist Michelle Souter and I have been very busy setting up a new group for Dundee's artists and makers- We are to be called "The Shimmy" and will be sending out an open call for members very soon!

The sale at my Folksy shop, Nikkimade is going well, and will finish on midnight on Sunday the 31st of January- so snap up a bargain while you still can! I have loads of one-off designs made from vintage fabrics, as well as my famous Tunnock's-wrapper range!
So if you aren't already, and you're in the area- get yourself along to the Central Station Pop-Up Tour, and join the group aswell, if you havn't already!

A Big Sale at My Wee Shop

So, to see in the New Year, I have decided to have a Sale at my shop, NikkiMade. Instead of just choosing a few things to reduce, I've decided that for the entire month of January, to reduce EVERYTHING by 30%.

Pop in and have a look- I've got things starting at only 70p! And remember, the offer ends on midnight on the 31st of January, 2010.

After a lovely Christmas break I'm really excited about 2010 and can't wait to get my new ideas ready and into my shop. Watch this space (and this one) for details!

Happy New Year!
